For example, while developing a gas temperature control system for a customer, we developed a model of the system including the gas, the heat exchanger tube and fins, the water and the metal enclosure walls. This allowed us to predict the temperature response of the system when subjected to a transient heat input. The model predicts the temperature accurately and it was used to help program the control system for the heat exchanger to keep the system at a constant temperature.
